harlan_and_sharlaHarlan Morgan was born on November 29, 1972 in Renton, Washington, to Rev. and Mrs. Walter Morgan. During the early years of Bro. Morgan’s life, histhe_morgan_family family lived in Washington and Wyoming, where his father assisted in the establishment of churches in those areas. By the time Bro. Morgan was three years old, the family had returned to their home near De Quincy, Louisiana, where they attended First United Pentecostal Church, pastored by Rev. T.D. Cardwell.

In January of 1980, the Morgan family moved to Chanute, Kansas, where they endeavored for the next  5 ½ years to establish a church. In 1980, Bro. Morgan was baptized by his father in the home mission work, and in 1981, he received the Holy Ghost at a fellowship meeting in Independence, Kansas. During the tenure in Kansas, Bro. Morgan started singing and playing the piano, with encouragement and coaching from various people. By age 9 or 10, he was the piano player for the work in Chanute.

After 5 ½ years of labor in Kansas, the Morgans returned to De Quincy. Bro. Walter Morgan began assisting the pastor of  Lunita Pentecostal Church (between De Quincy and Starks). He continued serving in that capacity until the pastor’s resignation in 1988. At that time, Bro. Walter Morgan became pastor and served there until his retirement in 2004. During the Lunita tenure, Harlan Morgan worked in various capacities, including music, Sunday School, youth, and other areas.

In 1990, Bro. Morgan graduated from Singer High School, and in the fall of 1991, he began attending McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana.at_the_texas_fire_museum During this time, Bro. Morgan began preaching weekend revivals and youth services at various churches. In May of 1995, he graduated from McNeese with a B.A. in English Education, and on June 10 of the same year, he married Sharla Chamberlain of Moss Bluff, Louisiana.

Their first “full-time” revival began December 31, 1996 near Columbia, Mississippi at Oak Grove Pentecostal Church with Pastor Mack Sterling. For nearly 2 ½ years the Morgans traveled from Texas to Florida, and up into Kansas, preaching and singing.

In March 1999, the Morgans accepted the call to return to De Quincy and assist Rev. T.D. Cardwell at First United Pentecostal Church. The De Quincy church being the church Bro. Morgan had attended as a child, returning to De Quincy was a homecoming. The Morgans assisted Bro. Cardwell until his retirement in 2003 and then assisted Rev. Wayne Cardwell after he became pastor through the end of 2003. During their tenure in De Quincy, the Morgans rejoiced at the birth of their
first child, Caleb Aaron on November  14, 2000.
